16.) Market Research, When a business gets big enough generally another business will see your product as a success and try to manufacture something similar for cheaper. This is called competition and to stay ahead of the competition a business has to perform what is called market research. This is where a business will set out to question the public, go through suggestions and listen to what the consumers have to say about how to make their product better.
Take apple as an example. when they released their 3rd generation ipod shuffle, they did away with all physical buttons. this was seen by the public as an unintelligent, after reading all of the bad emails and the product reviews, they responded by releasing the 4th generation shuffle last week, with, none other than, a click wheel.
17.)
dear perucco.
when businesses make important decisions, and they are about a certain product, there is almost a 100% chance that it will affect the consumer in some shape or form. say for instance, HP decided that on their laptops they are going to move to a 25% small keyboard, i would probably move away from their laptops because i prefer the full size keyboard, and move on to say a dell or even an apple laptop.
18.) Like i said in the last answer. if i decide that i dont like the product that a business is making i can move on to another business that makes similar products. therefore that business loses my money. now this may not even be a chip in the mountain of a large scale business, but if so many other people decide the same thing then the business will start to see the drop in sales and decrease in profits, forcing them to make a change.
21.) Businesses, who gather personal information from people, generally have agreements. These agreements are called Confidentiality agreements. these are put in place to keep your personal information from reaching the people or organizations that you do not intend. Say you get some car insurance from state farm, and they take down all of your personal information. well they have a confidentiality agreement so they dont share your phone number and you suddenly get swamped with 10 million telemarketer calls.
